Carbon dioxide (CO₂) fire extinguishers are used to extinguish small fires caused by various different materials . But beyond knowing their versatility, it's important to understand how CO₂ fire extinguishers are activated and the precautions that should be taken when using them.

The CO2 fire extinguisher does not damage the products, equipment, or environments in which it is used. It can be used safely and without damage on electronic devices, computers, telephones, and technology equipment rooms.

This type of fire extinguisher extinguishes fires caused by the burning of flammable liquids and gases, such as gasoline and other fuels (type B fire), and also those originating in energized electrical equipment (type C fire). It can also be effective when the fire originates from a solid material, such as paper.

Carbon dioxide gas is odorless, colorless, and does not conduct electricity. It should be clearly marked in areas where it is present, as this makes it easier to locate in emergencies.
